'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues battle with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the thrilling closing stages of Swansea's remarkable turnaround win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear after the on-field celebration.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful strike from outside the box, and the defender promptly hammered in the loose ball before racing off toward the crowd to revel in the moment, with supporters mobbing the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory capped an extraordinary recovery given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. In the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're humans, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

That win booked a next round match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with the London side in February. Galbraith had arguably the best view when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's long-range effort from about 45 yards going in via the crossbar and the Stefan Ortega. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that range," says Galbraith, who began the game centrally before shifting to right wing-back after the team changed formation. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the Manchester squad who praised the way the underdogs approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are exceptional but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they always find their target and they are adept at dictate and neutralize a game. You can think you're all right and then without warning they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be switched on at all times of the game. It requires a strong mentality and focus just to keep pace."

Welsh Transition

Swansea sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to bring him in in the summer in a significant move. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has quickly done the same in Wales. At the London club he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier the Manchester club, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was likely a bit naive going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it appears the ball is moved without much intensity. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adjust fast."

Country Call-ups

He has demonstrated that growth for both domestically and internationally, excelling for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including home and away encounters against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

This marks quite the ride for the kid from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who was raised observing his dad, Stuart, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Red Devils Debut

The player's single match for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they played on an artificial pitch and the arena covering was shut owing to conditions of -15C. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was cold out there," he says, grinning. "The days leading up, several youth players and I worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Leaving United

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged a teenager? "It was relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I realized I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it reached a stage where I felt I had to take a different path, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly progressing again."

New Environment

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a regular in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a minibus driven by academy staff, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include the Portuguese player, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has got his license. It's enjoyable to socialize with the lads but I'm planning to be the following person out of the minibus and on the road. Franco is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on the Tube after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
